About a blog
What is a Blog or Weblog?
A blog (aka weblog or web log) is a Web page that is routinely updated, usually with personal comments and/or Weblinks. Each blog entry is typically short and to the point. Sometimes it has a link to another item, perhaps with more details or pictures.
How are Blogs used?
In the past blogs were something like a diary, and had comments, links, or even pictures that the author happened to find interesting or entertaining at the time. They may have just been thoughts of the day or commentary on life’s events.
As blogs became more and more popular, they were used by businesses as well as individuals. Some offered subscription services for up-to-date news and commentary.
Components
Most blogs, including Whole Child, will contain the following elements:
1. Title: The blog's title.
2. Date: The date of the most recent post.
3. Post title: The title of the most recent post.
4. Text: The actual text of the most recent post.
5. Posting information: Information about who wrote that particular post and when it was posted to the blog.
6. Previous posts: A list of the most recent posts.
7. Archives: A link to view the archive section which contains older posts, usually on a previous topic or subject thread.
Though there may be variety from one to another depending on the preferences of the individual blogger, most blogs have all or most of those components.
