The Wave

By Alan Baillie
The Whole Child Fiction Texts provide opportunities for students to empathise with characters in the text. Students can analyse their own emotions, make informed judgements about behaviour and practise restorative methods that address conflict resolution and positive outcomes.

The texts are presented in a 'You Choose' novel format. At key stages in the text, students will be asked to consider, reflect and select what they believe to be the logical next step. They will then continue reading to find out the impact of their decision.

Steve is on holiday in another country and just wants to enjoy himself. Cheap computer games and swimming are on his mind. The disaster strikes and Steve is forced to make a change. Can he look past his own worries and think about others too? How will he cope? What would you do? You choose.
